I have always been a firm believer in the idea “I can do just about anything if I work hard enough.” This has lead to many skills that I can perform but am far from mastering. A nonzero portion of these skills are dexterity based skills. I have learned how to perform some minor skills pen spinning, dabbled in the art of cardistry, and indeed looked into the skills involved in balisong twirling. I would like to achieve some more mastery in some of these arts, skills in which progression should be relatively clear. Furthermore, I would like to add juggling to my repertoire as it is something that has long eluded me. These skills are something that I use both to exercise my mind and to help focus it. In a world where more and more of life seems to be taking place at a desk I can use some of these abilities to keep my hands busy while I think. There are many YouTube channels that are dedicated to these kinds of skills. In the past, while practicing cardistry I have visited the channel of Canadian magician and cardist Chris Ramsey so I think I will be expanding from there in my research. For pen spinning I used Pen Stock, a company based in the US that sells pen modifications which facilitate spinning. I intend to start my exploration at a channel known as Taylor Tries. I haven’t perused the channel very much as of yet but there are a variety of juggling tutorials. These three options give me a good basis of places to start my inquiry and several branches to follow.
