Accessibility is a subject that is both often harked upon and oft overlooked. However, it is a crucial aspect of many children’s educations. Our job as teachers is to provide a comfortable and unintrusive environment for children to learn in so we have to make sure to make room for everyone. During my BA I heard stories in my ASL class about teachers asking interpreters to stop signing to their deaf student until after they had finished speaking. Imagine for a moment if a teacher asked a student to stop taking notes until after they had finished speaking, sure you might be able to get the gist but not the details. We have to strive to be better than this. That means offering accessible media such as that bellow with closed captions, alternative descriptive text
